Good and upright is the LORD;
therefore he instructs sinners in his ways.
He guides the humble in what is right
and teaches them his way.
All the ways of the LORD are loving and faithful
toward those who keep the demands of his covenant.
For the sake of your name, LORD,
forgive my iniquity, though it is great.
Psalm 25:8-11
As we continue to meditate on Psalm 25, we read today from verses eight through 11. The words that we read in these verses are reminders of God’s character.
Our human minds are broken and dark; therefore, we must continually speak to our own soul and reinforce the Truth of His nature. One of Satan’s fiercest works is to mar the character of God so that we cannot see Him clearly.
1 John 3:2 says, “Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.”
Note that last part of 1 John 3:2 – it says that when we see Christ, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. Do you understand what this is saying? You cannot be in the presence of Christ and not be transformed fully and completely by Him. All the more will we be changed when we truly see Him…but what’s even more hope-filled is that He does a transformative work in this broken world while we’re still in it.
He gives us hope of change, transformation, and sanctification. As it recounts in Psalms 25:8-11, He is good and upright; He guides us; He teaches us; He is loving and faithful; He is forgiving. We must keep reminding ourselves of His wonderful character.
Ask God today to show Himself to you. Be still. Silent. Choose one word and meditate on it. Say that word to yourself over and over in your mind every few seconds, and say it for several minutes. I usually choose one of the fruits of the Spirit. Love. Joy. Peace…
Maybe it’s a word that we went over today in the study. No matter what prompts you, choose a word and allow the Holy Spirit to speak life into your heart as you repeat the word to yourself. It may take some practice, but as you learn to sit in His presence, you will become more like Him.
